About Us

At Doggie Downtime, I am dedicated to enhancing the well-being of our furry friends.

My mission is to provide exceptional complementary massage therapy tailored specifically for dogs, promoting relaxation and wellness.

From as far back as I can recall I have loved being around animals. We have always had dogs and in recent years our crew has grown, and our pack today consists of Two Basset hounds and a Fox hound.

Our dogs are very active, and we’ve had our fair share of injuries and health conditions, but what ive learned is that keeping our dogs a healthy weight, well exercised and conditioned through massage and of course loads of love gives them the best chance to maintain their peak health.

As we all know Dogs love Touch and through my studies as a Canine Massage Therapist, I’ve seen the advantages of this for the dog.

A recent clinical study at Winchester University has proven the positive implications of Canine Massage on a dogs’ mobility and behaviours-Effect of massage therapy on pain and quality of life in dogs: A cross sectional study - PubMed (nih.gov). The study suggests massage therapy may be a valid treatment for myofascial and musculoskeletal pain typically derived from muscular injuries, arthritis/other orthopaedic conditions.

Dogs’ bodies are composed of not only approx. 700 muscles but also a fine layer of connective tissue which ultimately connects the entire body together.

Keeping this Fascia healthy facilitates effective movement of the dogs’ muscles and prevents injury.

Any injury in a dog, even something small can lead to compensation and with compensation comes further complications.

My goal as a therapist is to maintain the dog in peak condition by massaging them and when required stretching their joints and muscles not only to prevent but also to rehabilitate any diseases or injuries they may have.

The Aim is to keep dogs moving effectively.
